Facebook is the top social networking site in India, topples orkut

The race for the top social networking site in India has seen a change. The globally “hot” facebook has toppled orkut as the top social networking site in India. Facebook‘s popularity is on a spike worldwide. Inspite of the umpteen number of controversies surrounding it, FB continues to spiral its way to the top. Orkut was India‘s favourite networking site. Orkut has highest number of users from Brazil and then India.

However, in July 2010, FB received 20.87 million unique visitors from India versus about 19.87 million unique visitors from India for orkut, thus becoming the top social networking site in the country. Here is what alexa has to say about top sites in India.
