Facebook no longer Lite

Facebook has pulled off Facebook Lite, its lighter stripped-down version.

This version was launched seven months ago, in India and US. This was targetted for those who want to involve in basic social networking tools & quickly, and those who were troubled with a slow internet connection.

Facebook Lite provided the basic networking features like accepting requests, updating profile status, writing on walls, sending messages and posts. It provided a faster and simpler way to keep in touch with friends. It was a potential candidate to fit into mobile devices. A potential candidate to challenge the microblogging service Twitter.

However, with the end of Facebook Lite, its users are eager to know if there will be an alternative that can provide the bare essentials without having to go through all the clutter of posts. Facebook had redesigned its main site a couple of months back, may be because Lite’s end was already planned. The site has been made easier to navigate and commonly used areas have been moved to prominent location.

Anyone who tries to connect to Lite, will be taken to the main facebook.com site.
