Link your Facebook profile with Orkut – the last nail in the coffin – Facebook Vs Orkut!
Ever since 2004, Google’s social networking platform Orkut has been the de-facto online networking tool for internet population in countries like India and Brazil. But, not any more. Facebook’s fast growing popularity bit the Indian crowd in the late last year and with 21 million unique visitors Facebook overtook Orkut in India in July, 2010.
Since then, Google has been trying hard to retain its top position by launching Facebook like App stores, new design & layouts, themes, games, etc., But, the latest move by Facebook is sure to topple Orkut’s empire in India for sure.
Facebook has just launched an app for those users, who are still using Orkut. It has decided to allow these users, to link & integrate their Facebook profiles with their Orkut profiles, so that they can stay connected with their Orkut friends, who have not joined Facebook yet.
So, users keep their Orkut friends updated with their Facebook activities i.e. share status updates, links, photos, notes, events and groups with friends on Orkut, directly from Facebook! By doing so, Facebook has unveiled its most viral marketing campaign in the country (remember how Zynga shot to fame ??).
Seems, this Facebook app to export Orkut’s friends and profile to Facebook shot to fame already and been aggressively tried by the Indian crowd which is believed to bringing down Facebook platform today. Well, Facebook Vs Orkut war is heating up and soon we might see some counter actions/apps by Google to block this Orkut export functionality to its competitor platform.
