S Tel – Billing, Tariff plans and Recharge vouchers details – Yet another low cost GSM Telecom provider for Tier C cities

We already have enough telecom companies in india enabling wireless communications for India population. The companies are so unnumbered that we are already seeing good competition and mouth watery value add services. A month back, Uninor launched its GSM service in 6 circles and its already able to capture good market share.

Latest to join the India Telecom bandwagon is S Tel. S Tel Private Limited (S Tel) is a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco). S Tel has acquired Unified Access Services Licenses (UASL) and spectrum to operate in six Category C circles – Orissa, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, North East, Assam and Jammu & Kashmir. These licenses will enable the company to provide Unified Mobile service, wireless broadband and innovative Value Added Services (VAS) covering a population of over 226 million across these circles.

The company plans to make its service available to 60 percent of the population of Himachal Pradesh by the end of the year. Compared to many other telcos, S-Tel has a GSM license only for 6 circles: Orissa, Bihar & Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, North East and Himachal Pradesh.

S Tel billing plans:

1. Per Second Billing (almost every telco is offering this plan)

2. Rs.0.50 rate for all calls

Bonus Talk Time:

S Tel will also also provide an additional 60 minutes of free local calls per month for a period of 3 months with any of the plans.

Recharge Vouchers :
They’ve also launched 3 “special tariff vouchers”: Rs. 9, Rs. 149 and Rs. 1499. Users will get 60 minutes of free outgoing local calls to any network per day for a day, month and year respectively with the special tariff vouchers.
It is expected that number of mobile users in India to double by 2015. Since the next wave of telecom growth lies in the Tier-C Cities, S Tel is rightly positioned to take advantage and grow faster. Also, did you note the recharge voucher prices, 9/149/1499 … may be the Sales director of S Tel is from Bata :). Anyway, more and more new telcos is definitely going to benefit the customers and we all welcome it.
