ClearTrip goes Middle East – launches UAE local travel portal – Which OTA flying next to UAE ?

Online Travel Agencies (OTA) in the country are on a lookout to expand in other locations. The latest OTA to join the club is ClearTrip. ClearTrip, one of the less cluttered and good looking travel sites, has marched to Middle East recently. Yes, the company has launched a UAE local travel portal – cleartrip.ae .

Are you one like me, thinking why UAE local site and not other Europe locations. Here are the reasons I can think of.. correct me if I am wrong.

1. UAE, though in middle east has one of the biggest internet penetrations in the world. Its over 65%.

2. UAE is the house of one of the largest India population outside India.

3. The most touted travel destination and one of the busiest airports in the world – Dubai, is one the Emirates

Cleartrip also offers global booking on low cost carriers like Air Arabia and Tiger Airways. And, offers other intuitive tools such as the at-a-glance Air Fare Calendar option and the display and payment of fares in Dirhams for faster transaction times.

And, don’t think ClearTrip is the only OTA opening up UAE local travel portal. One of the most cluttered travel site – MakeMyTrip.com has made a move a year back and seems to be successful. I am sure, other OTAs would follow the suite. My intuition says, it would be TravelGuru.com (the other most cluttered travel site :)). What say ?

I am a big fan of ClearTrip.com, mainly for its simple and neat website, faster search pages, trip calendars and alert systems and many others. I can’t assure, you will find the best flight rates at cleartrip.com, but it has been my favourite OTA till date. Lets see if the latest expansion to UAE can bring more fortunes to the company.
