India ranks third on Largest Women smoking countries

In a recent observation made by The Tobacco Atlas and American Cancer Society and World Lung Foundation, this planet has around 25 crores Women smokers and India women smoking population in one of the biggest contributor to this. Yes, Indian ranks third in the top 20 female smoking populations across the globe.

US ranks first in female smokers with 2.3 crore people, followed by China with 1.3 crore women smokers and third is India with 1.1 crore female smokers. One more shocking news is Pakistan is also a rank holder in this largest women smoking countries. Pakistan is ranked 20 in the list with a contribution of over 30 lakhs women.

One company which would surly feel happy on seeing India ranked third in this infamous list be ITC. It is the leading tobacco manufacturer and seller in the country and it has found one whole new market (the women population) where it sell its life-killers.

“The government isn’t focusing on anti-tobacco campaign that specially targets women. Smoking is definitely increasing in young college going women showing that the tobacco industry is targeting them very strongly,” Dr Gupta added.
