No iPad 2 buyers in India ? eBay sales chart says so …

Apple is riding high on its latest tablet device – iPad2. Even to Apple’s big surprise, iPad 2 ‘s reception has been extremely good and running out of stocks in many of the Apple retail showrooms. Fresh iPad 2 buy orders have a wait time up to a month now.

Meanwhile eBay, the leading eCommerce portal has revealed iPad 2 sales data for the first 2 weeks since the launch 3/11/2011 – 3/24/2011. With more than 10K iPad 2 sold over the eBay US platform during this period, this data gives us a glimpse on the demand for this new gadget across other countries, as iPad 2 sales was not open in many other countries during the same timeframe.

So, where did all these iPad 2 go ? It turns out that 65% of all iPad 2 sales remain in the U.S. Compare that to 35% for the first generation device. Canada and Russia tied for the second largest export locations and Hong Kong, Japan, and the United Kingdom tied for third.

Of course, folks are reselling their new iPad 2s for premium prices at eBay. Its seen that 16GB WiFi only iPad 2 models whose retail price was $499 were sold for around $700 ($200 premium). 64GB iPad 2 models were sold for over $400 average premium. Canada, Russian imported the highest of these iPad 2, followed by Hong Kong and Japan.

Well, how did iPad 2 craze fared in India ? eBay’s first 2 weeks iPad 2 sales chart doesn’t show any imports happened in India. Though this data is for the first 2 weeks only, I really doubt if the sales has picked up any later.

Either gadget lovers aren’t much in India or they have chosen to give a miss. Earlier, Apple’s iPhone didn’t do any better in India when its was hauled over across the globe. May be the price factor is to blame here for Indian crowd staying away from these latest gadgets and especially the ones from Apple. Better if Apple could find out other nicer ways of making its world class gadgets India friendly!
