Reliance Communications (RCOM) has attained the landmark of 100 million subscribers of its mobile service. This includes both the GSM & CDMA customer base of RCOM. It is the 2nd company in India to attain this high subscriber, after Airtel achieved it last year. It is only the 4th largest company in the world having more than 100 million customers.

RCOM wants to double its reach to 200 million subscribers in the next 1000 days. For this, RCOM

* Plans to increase its presence in the GSM marker.

* Plans to provide better services in CDMA.

* Plans to rollout CDMA mobile broadband network, offering Internet speed up to 3.1Mbps beyond 60 cities within the next 100 days.

* Looking out for acquisitions as a part of its plans to grow.

RCOM has revolutionized mobile market in India. It announced pan-India presence in 2003, and has attained the mark of 100 million is a short time.

Reliance has also unvieled a new logo. It plans to announce a number of new initiatives. It has announced a customised “100 Million Caller Tune” will be launched as part of the 100 Million announcement.

Reliance will celebrate this memorable achievement by having a huge party on March 20th, 2010. We are sure Hritik Roshan would also be invited to it, as he has been a major factor contributing to this achievment, by his wonderful ad.

Next in-race to attain the 100 million mark is Vodafone, which has 94.14 million subscribers, as per TRAI data for January-end. I am sure Vodafone is trying hard to achieve this landmark and will throw a party soon-after.
