Tata Motors cuts production of SUVs, cars by 15-20% – To balance the business output

Auto major Tata Motors has cut down on its sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and car production by 15-20% over March, reported by CNBC-TV18. The production cut in April is aimed at balancing out the company’s increased output in March.

“Whatever has been done is part of the usual balancing in production month to month,” stated a Tata Motor official.

The company may not meet its 2011 targeted production of 15,000 Nano cars each month.

“We are facing supply constraints and subdued demand for the world’s cheapest car,” the official said adding, “Tata Motors may not raise monthly production of the Nano due to the constraints, coupled with demand for the car stabilizing at current 8,000 unit levels.”

Tata Motors in February said it planned to raise Nano’s monthly production to 12,000-15,000 vehicles from April onwards.
