Tata’s Electronic Retail Stores Croma on expansion plan
Tata Group’s Electronic retail chain Croma, which runs under Tata wholly owned subsidiary Infinity Retail Lts has announced its expansion plan. Croma Electronic retail stores are planned to opened in 18 more locations In India. Currently, Croma retail stores are functioning at Ahmedabad, Bengalooru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Surat and Vadodara.
And, the new stores are also planned in the same cities where it already has retail units. why not other places ?? Seems, they want to saturate the market in their existing locations and becoming a dominant player. Thats a good strategy, I feel. By next year the total Croma retail stores will touch 100 from the current 50 stores. Also, they are eyeing Eastern parts of India later next year.

There are Retail stores from small brands in many towns and cities to sell household electronics items like Washing Machines, Refrigerators, Mixers, Air Coolers, etc., But these small brands doesn’t have pan India presence either. Also, We don’t have much organised retails stores for Electronics products like LCD TVs, Laptops, Digital Cameras, Video Cams, mp3 players, apple products – iPhones, iPod, etc., in India. Tata is smart, launched Croma few years before and it is now a dominating player in this space. It is learnt, Croma is on a good revenue run. These retail chain are seeing sales growth of 15% month-on-month. The company’s turnover is around Rs 1,000 crores and can break even next year.
