Infosys begins campus placements!

By Natraj Muthukrishnan on 10 December, 2009, 2:57 pm

Continuing the trend started by CTS, infosys has started its own campus hunt for students of final year students. Apparently, infosys plans to add 13,000 freshers to its payroll in the next fiscal year compared to 20,000 job offers it made last year. Infosys said that they have already started going to campuses in about 700 engineering colleges. Infosys has started visiting colleges in Chennai and will continue to do so in near future. The compensation for the joinees will be the same as what was being offered last year. This comes as a relief to an industry which had run into certain rough weather during the FY09 with certain companies delaying the entry of these students and in some cases putting them on a different stream of work.

Update: 20/12/2009

Infosys is recruting from a private college in Chennai. Close to 200 students have been shortlisted for the interview and interviews are in progress as I type this. Will update the results as soon as I get to know of them . Keep watching this space for more updates.

Update 22/12/2009

Infosys surprised everyone by taking a whooping number of 152 students from the above said college in Chennai where it had shortlisted 170 candidates for the interview. This is by far the highest success ratio in interviews I have ever witnessed. This is indeed surprising because, already 290 students of the same college have been swept by CTS. So placement season in Chennai is rocking!! Stay tuned for more.
