Jobs for Engineering graduates in IT sector: Are we ready?
In a country where becoming an engineer is a household dream in all the houses and where engineering college open up daily, it has become a case of quantity doing the talking over quality. Yes, we produce engineers from every corner of the country but are they employable?
A recent survey suggests that only one in every five graduates coming out of engineering colleges is employable in IT services sector without any further training. The figures are one in every twenty for a IT product company. This shows that clearly there is a need for better training and syllabus updation in the engineering stream in the country.

Another shocking revealation is that MCA students are better equipped with the skills that are needed in an IT company, as they have a stronger programming background. However, they need to work on their communication skills.
The move of starting the placement only in the last semester of the engineering studies looks more like a step towards this direction only, where the companies can judge the students better.
Hope we take more steps in this direction and are able to keep the jobs at our end only. We do not want jobs which have come to us to go elsewhere, do we?
