Highly talented men and women need not be worried abt the global slowdown & shortage of jobs. As per a survey conducted by Hewitt Associates, India Inc continues to see a double-digit attrition rate of 13.8% inspite of the economic slowdown. This means 13.8% of the Indian workforce is voluntarily quitting their existing jobs, obviously because they are getting a better opportunities.
India reports the highest attrition rate followed by Australia ( 11%) , New Zealand and China. (And the companies thought that the slowdown would ease their pain of employee voluntary turnover.) Other countries in the asia-pacific region reported single-digit attrition rates. All this means, companies are searching for talent even in econimic slowdown. Hence its a bigger challenge for companies to retain their talented strength, given that there are better opportunities outside and tighter budget inside in the organization. So all talented people out there, do not hesitate to ask for a better pay even in this uncertainity. Your organization will certainly oblige to your request.
