IT majors in India, Wipro and TCS have bagged major contracts. While Wipro has managed to bag the 3 Year IT services contract with Aquarion Water Company, one of the largest water utilities in the United States. TCS has tapped upon the domestic clients and has bagged India’s largest state-wide area network (SWAN) project from the Andhra Pradesh government. This five year contract is based on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) model. This happens to be the fourth such SWAN project TCS has in India. The SWAN project will enable the state to run various e-governance and citizen services in the state. So in addition to contributing towards the development of India indirectly in terms of revenue and taxes it generates, these domestic contracts help TCS to be involved in some development work directly.

TCS is leading the way in tapping local businesses for contracts and contracts. TCS has been pioneer in domestic contracts with contract from SBI,BSNL to name a few.
