And, the Beetle is not going to be any cheaper either.Volkswagen Beetle are going to be imported totally from other countries and there are no production or assembling units for them in the country yet. The company will have to pay a duty of almost 110 per cent as import duties on the Beetle, which will effectively double the cost of the two-door, four-seater cars…. It will be imported to India from the company’s Mexican plant.Though the company is tight lipped about the Beetle model cars prices, may have guessed the car will be priced around 20 Lakhs…. There are now planning to roll out a new sports car Z370 in the Indian market in 2010.Right from the start, Nissan India is focussed towards high end car market. Unlike some companies, Nissan’s strategy seems to be top-down one whereby they bring in more expensive cars before driving volumes and hitting the mass consumer. An example being their two current offerings the Teana and the SUV X-Trail which cost between Rs 21 and 25 lakhs approximately.And this new sports car Z370 seems to be in the higher end as well. Though the market for sports car in india is not Big, they hope the interest will increase in the near future.They are also launching a small car “Micra Hatchback” for Indian market and it will be priced under 5 lakhs and will be available in petrol and diesel variants.
